The National Commissioner/CEO of Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) Dr. Vincent Olatunji and the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), David Daser, met in Abuja on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, to explore avenues for collaboration and partnership on training programs and data protection awareness.
The meeting outlines a framework of cooperation in areas such as data privacy awareness, capacity building, and the development of data protection and best practices across sectors. Both institutions emphasized the need for continuous innovation and adherence to global data protection standards to ensure the safety of citizens’ data.
The two institutions tailored their efforts in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu on data protection and digital skills ecosystem as well as the 3MTT of the Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy headed by the Honourable Minister, Dr. Bosun Tijani
In his remarks, the CEO of DBI, David Daser, expressed appreciation for the proactive efforts of the NDPC in enforcing data protection regulations in Nigeria and committed to DBI’s support in developing educational and training programs for data professionals. He stated “This partnership marks a significant step toward enhancing data security in Nigeria. By joining forces with the NDPC, we aim to provide high-level training and knowledge-sharing initiatives that will foster a culture of data protection across public and private sectors.”

The partnership between DBI and NDPC will also include a joint reservations project, the development of national data, a protection framework, and an advocacy program aimed at educating businesses on compliance with data privacy law.
This meeting underscores the commitment of both DBI and NDPC to safeguard the integrity of data and foster a secure digital environment for Nigeria’s economic growth.
