The Digital Bridge Institute, DBI has concluded a 5-day Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI) for the staff of the Taraba State University, Jalingo.

The training, which started on Monday 7th, October and ended on Friday, 11th October 2024, was fully funded by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) and was held at the ICT Complex of the Taraba State University, Jalingo.

At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mahmood H. Umar, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the DBI Team of the University and expressed his appreciation to the NCC and DBI for the program which was designed to enhance the digital knowledge skills of the participants that would enable them to align with the global trends in technology education and the drive of the Federal Government of Nigeria in promoting the Digital Economy.

He advised the participants to take the training seriously and ensure they justify the confidence the NCC and DBI reposed in the University for its drive-in ICT capacity building.

The DBI Coordinator, Mr. Ohia Omiri, and his team of Facilitators, including Mr. Chris Onyeose and Dr. Nasiru Bello Mohammed, eulogized the Management and Staff of the University Community for liaising with the NCC and DBI for ensuring that the University was always scheduled for the program.

The training focused on two key modules, which were Digital Skills, Cybersecurity & Emerging Technology (DiSECT), and Data Analysis and Visualization using SPPS and Microsoft Power BI.

The participants on their part, conducted themselves with utmost decorum and keen interest as the Facilitators performed excellently well by demonstrating their knowledge of the subject matter and were issued letters of commendation.

The training concluded on Friday, 11th October 2024, with the issuance of Certificates to participants by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, who also declared the program closed.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Bako commended the NCC and DBI for delivering the program at the University. He said that the Taraba State University will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the University is enlisted as one of the digital hubs in the country. He promised to continue to partner with the NCC and DBI to promote similar trainings in ICT capacity building.

Some of the Principal Officers in attendance during the closing ceremony included Prof. Mahmood H. Umar (DVC University Development Services), Dr. Isreal Habibu Idris, University Librarian, Dr. Reuben Jonathan, DVC Administration, and Mdm. Mary Nyanganji, Co-ordinator Taraba State University CISCO Academy while earlier at the opening ceremony were the Institute’s Information Protocol Officer, Mr. Sanusi Sa’ad, Dr. Isreal Habibu Idris, University Librarian; Dr. Reuben Jonathan, DVC Administration, Prof. Joseph U. Okeke, ICT Director, and Mdm. Mary Nyanganji, the Anchor person of the program from the University.
