The Nigerian Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, has benefited from the Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI), courtesy of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) and funded by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). This comprehensive training, held from October 14th to 18th, 2024, equipped over 100 staff members with essential digital skills.
The ADEPTI initiative, led by NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Aminu Maida, aims to bridge the digital divide across educational institutions. It focuses on empowering staff, students, faculty, and administrators with practical knowledge of emerging technologies and digital skills crucial for participating in the modern digital economy. This aligns with President Tinubu’s goals of fostering a vibrant digital economy, a critical component of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
During the training, participants underwent intensive courses covering: Digital Skills, Cybersecurity, Emerging Technologies (DiSCET), Data Analysis, SPSS and Microsoft Power.
Representing the Commandant, DCP Preye Raymond Egbe commended NCC and DBI for their proactive role in empowering young cadets and administrative staff. He emphasized that acquiring these skills would enhance law enforcement efficiency and promote safer communities.
DBI Coordinator, Mr. Shamsu Mohammed Sanusi, praised the Police Academy management for their collaboration. ICT Director ACP Kangiwa A. Ibrahim noted that the training marks a significant step in developing staff capacity in ICT, urging stakeholders to be diligent to secure future training opportunities.
