Tech Entrepreneurs are to come together to build scalable businesses that not only drive economic growth but also solve Africa’s most pressing challenges.
The Chief Executive Officer of Digital Bridge Institute, DBI, Daser David, stated this on Thursday, 28th November 2024, at Anambra Innovation Week 2024 with the theme: Creating the Future of Africa, Now.
While speaking on the topic: Building a Scalable Business Model for a Startup, Daser called on Entrepreneurs to build with scalability in mind from day one of start-up business. Investors to support startups that demonstrate both scalability and social impact and Policymakers to create environments where startups can thrive, innovate, and scale.
Speaking on challenges and strategies
scaling a startup in Africa, Daser said “We face infrastructure gaps, funding limitations, regulatory complexities, and talent shortages.”
And challenges, according to DBI Boss, could be overcome through
collaboration with governments, NGOs, and larger corporations to overcome infrastructure and funding barriers. Train local talent to bridge skill gaps and turn limitations into strengths by building mobile-first solutions or decentralized services.
He concluded that the future belongs to startups that build for longevity, empower communities, and drive intra-African trade, adding that by leveraging platforms like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), startups can scale across borders, creating solutions that resonate continent-wide.
