
The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) on Tuesday commenced a 3-day extensive training of senior executive officers of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The training, on “Cyber Forensics & Digital Evidence Gathering,” is currently taking place at DBI facilities in Abuja.
According to the Head, Learning & Development, DBI, Mr. Emeka Nzeih, the three-day intensive practical training program is to equip broadcast regulatory and compliance personnel with specialized digital forensics skills to monitor, investigate, and document violations of broadcasting laws.
The course focuses specifically on identifying, capturing, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence from broadcast platforms, social media, websites, and digital archives to build legally admissible cases against stations that breach regulations.
He pointed out that participants will master tools and methodologies for gathering online evidence that meets the standards of the Nigerian Evidence Act (2011) and National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) hearing requirements.
The training will also provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of digital forensics principles as applied to broadcast regulation and compliance monitoring.
Besides, it will help them develop practical skills in capturing, preserving, and authenticating digital evidence from broadcast platforms and online sources.
It will further equip participants with specialized tools and techniques for investigating specific broadcasting violations, including hate speech, false news, political bias, unauthorized content, and sponsorship violations.
