DBI Management and Staff Celebrate CEO Daser with Heartfelt Tributes on His Birthday

On Wednesday, 30th October 2024, the management and staff of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) joined family, friends, and associates to celebrate their President/Chief Executive Officer, David Daser, on his birthday. The entire DBI team rejoiced with Daser, acknowledging his appointment as a blessing to the institute.

Daser’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu was announced on August 21, 2024. Since assuming office, Daser has impressed the DBI community with numerous partnerships and memorandums of understanding focused on digital education and capacity-building training for youth development. These initiatives align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on Digital Economy and the 3MTT program led by the Honourable Minister, Bosun Tijani.

Daser’s technical expertise has attracted many institutions eager to partner with DBI, Nigeria’s foremost ICT institute. His outstanding leadership was recognized with the presentation of the Outstanding Leadership Award by the Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN).

Background and Achievements

David Daser hails from Pankshin Local Government, Mupun by tribe, and comes from a royal lineage. He graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from the prestigious University of Jos. During the rise of Web 2.0, Daser became a software technology enthusiast, bridging the gap between the online and physical worlds.

After earning his degree in 2009, Daser transitioned from a computer hobbyist to an entrepreneur. He co-founded a tech company to help organizations, governments, and businesses solve complex technical challenges. His work included consulting for multinational companies and assisting the Nigeria Police Force with their vehicle return systems in 2010, a technology still in use today. He also served as the national IT consultant to the Nigeria Air Force, developing technologies for military operations.

Driven by the high unemployment rate in Africa, Daser has been instrumental in developing the continent’s tech ecosystems. He consulted for Enspire Incubation under the Abuja Technology Village, creating a vibrant tech ecosystem in the FCT. This effort led to the launch of “Hive,” a platform empowering and mentoring youths to become the next generation of software engineers. In late 2014, Hive expanded to Plateau State, resulting in the launch of “HackJos,” the first technology hackathon in northern Nigeria. HackJos has become a significant event in the Nigerian tech space, attracting support from the Industrial Training Funds (ITF), Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), and numerous software development companies.

As the pioneer Director General of PICTDA, Daser set the agenda to drive governance in Plateau State by leveraging technology to save costs and improve efficiency in the civil service. Under his leadership, Plateau initiated the Silicon Plateau Project a flagship programs code named “Code Plateau” which saw to the building of many tech talent gainfully employed within and without Nigeria, he also mid-wife the setup of Qua’an Pan Innovation Hub, the first fully funded hub by any local government in Nigeria.

 

Daser has consulted on IT for the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Air Force, and various public and private sector entities. He was also a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Technology & Creativity, chaired by former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. The council provided solutions to technology and creativity challenges, advancing Nigeria’s entertainment and technology ecosystems.
