The Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Kano State Chapter, is seeking a strategic partnership with the Digital Bridge Institute, DBI, in the area of digital and ICT capacity building, for its workforce.
This was disclosed when the Executive Committee of the NLA paid a courtesy visit to the DBI, Kano Campus to discuss possible areas of collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in the field of ICT and capacity building.
Discussions during the visit were centered on potential partnerships in the areas of workshops, professional training, and digital literacy initiatives tailored for librarians.
In his address, the Chairman of the Association, Malam Naziru Muhammad, underscored the Association’s commitment to continuous professional development through training, workshops, and capacity building programmes.
He noted that this objective is in harmony with DBI’s mandate of bridging the digital divide in Nigeria.
In his response, the Head of. DBI Kano Campus, Mr. Sani Tsoho Yakawada, expressed appreciation for the visit and described the initiative as one that brings renewed hope for advancing digital competence within the library profession.
He reiterated DBI’s readiness to engage in such collaborations, noting that partnerships of this nature are central to the Institute’s core mandates.
Already, the NLA leadership has pledged to submit a formal partnership proposal to the DBI to making the partnership formal and official.
This engagement is anticipated to yield significant outcomes, particularly in enhancing the digital literacy of librarians and improving the quality and effectiveness of library services across the country.
