On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are proud to celebrate the inspiring journeys of our alumni whose stories exemplify resilience, determination, and the transformative power of DBI’s training programs.
💡 Turning Passion into a Career:
For Fiona, a natural charm and knack for customer relations sparked a dream to excel in Customer Service and CSR. After working in a hardware store, the opportunity to join the IT Bridge Academy, a program sponsored by Sightsavers in partnership with DBI, became the stepping stone to deeper IT knowledge.
The comprehensive 9-month training in networking, data analysis, and cloud computing equipped her with the technical skills needed to complement her interpersonal abilities.
Her journey took an extraordinary turn during a visit to an MTN service center during the 2023 Customer Service Week. A social media post, innocently shared in celebration, unexpectedly became a symbol of aspiration. As Customer Service Week 2024 rolled around, she is living her dream as an intern at MTN Nigeria, applying her skills and passion in a real-world environment.

💻 From Data to Dreams:
Tokoni’s journey highlighted the power of inclusivity in ICT training. Guided by MTN staff mentors, her experience at the IT Bridge Academy emphasized ethical and innovative data analysis, preparing her to contribute meaningfully in a professional setting. MTN Nigeria’s involvement extended beyond training to mentorship and the provision of essential resources like routers and data, ensuring all participants, including persons with disabilities could excel.
For this individual, the training experience was “life-changing,” culminating in an internship at MTN, a dream they had nurtured since their school days.
