The Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umar Fintiri, has inaugurated the Adamawa Digital Academy (ADA) at the Yola Campus of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding digital education, innovation and technology-driven opportunities for young people across the state.

Governor Fintiri performed the inauguration recently during an official visit to the DBI Yola Campus, where he also inspected the Institute’s training and learning facilities.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Governor to assess DBI’s ICT training infrastructure and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration between the Adamawa Digital Academy and the Institute in developing the digital skills required to prepare young people for employment, entrepreneurship, innovation and meaningful participation in the digital economy.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s determination to provide young people in Adamawa State with access to quality digital education and relevant skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy.

The Governor inspected several facilities at the DBI Yola Campus, including modern ICT training laboratories, innovation hubs, digital learning facilities designated for the Adamawa Digital Academy, the auditorium, hostel accommodation and canteen.

He commended DBI for the quality of its infrastructure and the conducive environment provided for ICT training and human capital development. The governor noted that the facilities provide a strong foundation for equipping young people with globally relevant digital and technological skills.

Governor Fintiri was accompanied by the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Hon. Alhaji Awwal D. Tukur; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Edgar Amos; and other senior government officials.

The Governor and his delegation were received at the DBI Yola Campus by the Head of Campus, Mr. Dashe D. Garba; the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, E-Governance and Policy, Dr. Ahmad Hammajam Adamu; and the Coordinator of the Adamawa Digital Academy, Hajia Sumaiyya Babangida Sabo, alongside members of the DBI and ADA management teams and staff.

In his remarks, the Head of DBI Yola Campus, Mr. Dashe Garba, conveyed the goodwill of the President/CEO of DBI, Mr. David Daser, and expressed appreciation to Governor Fintiri for his continued support for initiatives aimed at strengthening digital skills development and human capital in Adamawa State.

Mr. Garba also highlighted DBI’s contribution to national digital skills development through its Skill-to-Wealth (S2W) programme, which trained 300 participants over a three-week period across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The programme was sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The inauguration of the Adamawa Digital Academy marks a significant milestone in the state’s digital transformation efforts. The Academy is expected to provide young people with opportunities to acquire practical ICT skills, pursue digital careers, develop innovative solutions and participate more effectively in the digital economy.

The Governor’s visit and the inauguration further highlight the importance of strategic partnerships between state governments, DBI and other stakeholders in advancing digital skills development, innovation and human capital development.
