On Thursday, 7th November 2024, the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Bridge Institute participated in the 93rd edition of the Telecom NCC Consumer Parliament alongside key stakeholders from various sectors.
The theme for the 93rd edition is “Optimising Data Experience: Empowering Consumers Through Awareness and Transparency in a Consumer-Centric Telecom Industry”
This session focused on exploring policies, innovations, and regulatory practices aimed at enhancing consumer protection within Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
The Consumer Parliament, organised by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) serves as a platform for discourse on pressing issues affecting Nigerian consumers. With the presence of industry leaders, Consumer advocates, and government officials, the events foster transparency and collaboration for consumer empowerment in the digital economy.
Stakeholders discussed updates on consumer protection policies focusing on data privacy and steps being taken to secure customer information in the face of evolving Cybersecurity threats.
Resolving consumer complaints; an interactive segment allowed consumers to share their experiences directly with industry representatives, fostering real-time solutions and ongoing accountability.
The occasion was graced by the Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida; Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) DBI CEO David Daser; Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of NCC; Telecom Industry stakeholders; Representative of the Financial Institutions, and Representatives from the Government Agencies.
