The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) has concluded its three-week “AI Innovators Bootcamp: From AI User to AI Creator,” designed to equip young participants with practical knowledge and skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging digital technologies.

The programme, which commenced on Monday, August 3, and ended on Friday, August 21, 2026, was held at the DBI Headquarters in Utako, Abuja.

The bootcamp exposed participants to various aspects of Artificial Intelligence, including practical lessons in AI video generation and prompt engineering, using tools such as Gemini, ChatGPT and other AI platforms. The training also provided opportunities for participants to apply their knowledge through practical exercises, team activities and innovation projects.

A major highlight of the programme was an excursion to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Telecommunications Museum, where participants gained practical insights into the development and evolution of telecommunications technology globally and in Nigeria.

The participants also visited and made use of the Digital Bridge Institute’s Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) Mobile Bus, further enriching their practical learning experience in digital technology and AI.

Reacting to the programme, the participants described the training, particularly the excursion, as unique, enjoyable and educative, saying it provided an opportunity to learn beyond the conventional classroom environment.

Sharing his experience, one of the participants, Onwuegbuna Chibuike Benedict, a pharmacy student, expressed appreciation to the DBI management, staff and instructors. He said he initially did not realise that Artificial Intelligence could be applied to his field of study.

He described the training as an “impeccable and phenomenal experience,” adding that he had learnt how to create AI chatbots and work with AI tools such as Perplexity and Gamma.

Another participant highlighted the collaborative aspect of the programme, particularly the opportunity to work with other participants on video production and other AI-related activities.

The participants also reflected on the importance of understanding the limitations of Artificial Intelligence, thus emphasize that while AI is a powerful tool, human intelligence, creativity and sound judgement remain essential.

They stated that the skills acquired during the bootcamp would contribute positively to their future academic and career pursuits.

At the close of the training, participants received certificates to mark the successful completion of the programme.

Speaking during the closing activities, the Head of Corporate Services, Mrs. Ngozi Nwoche, and the Head of Marketing Department, Mrs. Judith Uzougbo, encouraged the participants to make meaningful use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme.

The participants, now recognized as alumni of the Digital Bridge Institute, were encouraged to maintain contact with their instructors and team members for continued guidance and support in their future endeavors.

The Institute also urged the new alumni to share their experiences and create awareness of the opportunities available through its training programmes.
