The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Yola Campus, has strengthened its engagement with the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) following a strategic facility tour by a delegation from the electricity distribution company on Tuesday.

The visit was aimed at deepening the relationship between the two organisations and exploring opportunities for collaboration in training, digital skills development, technology-driven innovation and workforce capacity building.

The YEDC delegation was led by the company’s Head of Human Resources, Mr. Rotimi Arowolo, and included Miss Faizat Adenoyi of the Learning and Development Unit, Human Resources Department.

The visit, which followed an invitation from DBI Yola Campus, provided the YEDC team with an opportunity to assess the Institute’s facilities and engage its management on areas of mutual interest.

Discussions focused particularly on how YEDC could leverage DBI’s expertise and facilities for staff training and other operational capacity-building needs in the North-East and the wider Nigerian power sector.

Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Arowolo expressed YEDC’s interest in establishing a closer working relationship with DBI, noting the potential benefits of leveraging the Institute’s technical expertise and facilities to strengthen the capacity of the company’s workforce.

The delegation was received by the Head of DBI Yola Campus, Mr. Dashe Garba, alongside members of the campus management and staff.

Speaking on behalf of the President/Chief Executive Officer of DBI, Mr. David Daser, Garba welcomed the YEDC delegation and reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to partnerships that promote digital transformation, workforce development and national development.

As part of the visit, the YEDC team toured key facilities at the DBI Yola Campus, including ICT training laboratories, innovation hubs, digital learning spaces, the auditorium, hostel accommodation, clubhouse, workshops and canteen.

The visitors expressed appreciation for the quality of the infrastructure and the conducive learning environment at the campus. They noted that the facilities could play an important role in supporting the development of highly skilled and globally competitive ICT and digital professionals.

Garba conveyed the goodwill of the DBI President/CEO to the YEDC team and thanked Mr. Arowolo and his colleagues for the visit, describing the engagement as an important step towards building a stronger and more productive institutional relationship.

He further highlighted the potential of the partnership to enhance digital capacity, strengthen workforce development and promote the deployment of technology to improve service delivery within the power sector and other areas of the Nigerian economy.

The engagement underscores DBI Yola Campus’s commitment to building practical partnerships with key organisations and government institutions to advance digital skills development, innovation and technology adoption.

It also reinforces the Institute’s broader mandate of contributing to Nigeria’s digital economy by developing a skilled, technology-driven workforce capable of responding to emerging challenges and opportunities across critical sectors of the economy.
