The MacArthur Foundation Centre, University of Ibadan, Nigeria Premier University is organizes a Workshop for Management Staff of Registry, Bursary, Internal Audit, and Information Technology and Media Services (ITeMS). The training is being delivered by Nigeria’s foremost ICT training Institution; the Digital Bridge Institute. The program would run from the 18th to the 22nd of September 2023
The Workshop is titled *E-Governance, Visual Communications and Infographics*. Participants in the workshop include all Deputy Registrars, all Deputy Bursars, Director of Internal Audit, Chief and Principal Internal Auditors, and Deputy Directors of Management Information Systems and Information Technology.
The Digital Bridge Institute team is led by Mr. Chukwuemeka Nzeih, Manager, of the Professional and Certification Programme in the Learning and Development Group of the Institute. He is ably supported by Mr. Solomon Adewole and Paul Olugbenga.
The workshop was formally declared open by Professor Kayode Adewole, the 13th Vice Chancellor of Nigeria Premier University, represented by Professor Ezekiel Ayoola, the Vice Chancellor of Administration. Also present at the opening of the workshop were Professor A.S. Jegede the Director, of the Research Management Office of the University, Professor R.A. Oderinde, the MacArthur Foundation Research Grant Officer of the University, Mr. Adeoye Popoola; the University Bursar, Mrs. Abiodun Alao; the Director, Information Technology and Media Services, Mrs. Bolarinwa Adeyemi, the representative of the University Librarian and Mr. Ganiyu I. Saliu the University Registrar.
In his speech, the Registrar stated that the workshop would address key thematic areas central to the governance and administrative running of higher educational systems in line with global best practices and raise the bar of administration of the university. He further encouraged participants at the workshop to seize the opportunity of the workshop to gain important contemporary skills that would help them upskill and improve their on-the-job performance.
Mr. Ganiyu further stated that the workshop is a good step in the right direction, a proactive action that is akin to taking the bull by the horns as it would address peculiar challenges in each administrative unit of the University. He said the skills that participants would acquire in e-administration and e-governance would help the university maintain its leading role and pride of place not just among universities in Nigeria but in the West African sub-region. Finally, he appealed to the MacArthur Foundation and the Digital Bridge Institute to ensure that training of this nature percolates to other levels of staff at the University.
The Vice Chancellor in declaring the training open appealed to participants to ensure that they maximize the opportunity the training offers to acquire knowledge in e-administration and ensure that such knowledge is used for the betterment and advancement of the University.
